Episode 61: Business 101: Business Plan

October 26th, 2014

Do you need one or not?  Is it worth the time it takes?  Aren't most businesses beyond the need to go thru this step by step?  What if the idea for the business involves changing and growing, how does that get nailed down and predicted at this point?

This show is a point by point battle between Tom and me about this one basic question:  Will a business plan help my business succeed?  Your thoughts?

Episode 60: Dewey Warden, Door to Door Transportation

October 19th, 2014

For most of us who start our own business the day we realize we need to expand because business is booming is usually a very happy day.  That moment is a confirmation that we are doing something right.  That people like and want we are doing. We start calculating what the additional sales will do, how much our numbers get boosted, how many more employees we will need to hire, or how much equipment we will need to buy.  And, if you're like me, the thoughts of Mediterranean cruises and spa resorts start dancing through the field of vision.  Success it says.  But there are over ways to measure success and if you listen to this show, you'll find out what success means to Dewey and Ann Warden.

Episode 59: La Terza Artisan Coffee Roasterie

October 12th, 2014

What gets you through the night?  For me, it's knowing that the cup of coffee I'm going to have in the morning has been selected, roasted and ground by Chuck Pfahler founder and Coffee Roaster Extraordinaire.  And I'm serious when I say Chuck's the roaster, his modus operandi is to select and roaster in small batches in order to ensure quality and consistency.  His passion for finding and creating some of the best cups of coffee is on target because his business is booming.  David Gaines also joins us this time as a Business Manager of La Terza Artisan Coffee Roasterie with information on a monthly coffee club program that they are rolling out in time for the holidays.

Episode 58: Dimalanta Design Group

October 5th, 2014

Marketing is a contest for people's attention - Seth Godin

That's true, but I think it's only half true.  The first half of that thought has to do with knowing who you are, what you do and why you do it.  Those three questions can launch a company from a business to a brand.  Ernie Dimalanta knows a few things about launching brands.  He's built his company, Dimalanta Design Group into a crazy successful marketing firm and brand management company.  And he's done it by helping other companies win the contest.
